Mobilab har ända sedan starten för snart två år sedan varit TV4-Gruppens och Expressens gemensamma utvecklingsverksamhet för mobilen. Den snabba medie- och teknikutvecklingen har gjort att utvecklingen av den mobila verksamheten kommit att hamna väldigt nära kärnverksamheten i respektive bolag. Mot bakgrund av det har Mobilabs ägare sett över verksamheten i bolaget. Mobilab kommer fortsättningsvis att fokusera på vidareutvecklingen av verksamheten kring mobila värdebärare, det vill säga kuponger, presentkort med mera, i fortsatt samarbete med Kuponginlösen. Övrig verksamhet läggs ned. Det innebär att delar av personalen blir övertalig och sägs upp på grund av arbetsbrist.
Mobilabs vd Otto Sjöberg ansvarar för genomförandet av förändringarna av bolagets verksamhet. När förändringarna är genomförda slutar Otto Sjöberg som vd och går in i Mobilabs styrelse.
– Utvecklingen av tjänsterna i mobilen har varit explosionsartad. 603 000 nerladdade appar med TV4 Play i spetsen och intäkter som ökat 211 procent sedan vi lanserade riktig tv i mobilen i somras, till exempel. Med de volymerna går det att förstå att ägarna ser verksamheten som en del av befintliga affärsområden. Tyvärr får det tråkiga konsekvenser för Mobilab, säger Otto Sjöberg.
– Det Mobilab har gjort har varit viktigt för att få fart på utvecklingen av vår mobila verksamhet. Det har gett oss grunden till utvecklingen av allt fler plattformar för vårt innehåll. Som i sin tur skapat nya möjligheter, både för vår redaktion och vår säljverksamhet, säger Bengt Ottosson, vd för Expressen och styrelseordförande i Mobilab.
– Mobilabs personal har gjort ett bra jobb, men verksamheten måste nu utvecklas på ett annat sätt. Det är samtidigt viktigt att poängtera att samarbetet mellan Expressen och TV4-Gruppen fortsätter när det gäller Mobilab – det fortsätter med ny inriktning och med samma energi. Sedan har vi också ett flertal andra samarbets- och utvecklingsprojekt ihop mellan bolagen, på olika nivåer och både befintliga och flera nya projekt, säger Jan Scherman, vd för TV4-Gruppen.
